Hey guys,
I'm thinking of a few events that might be a good mixture for next year's 105 comp I'll be holding. What does everyone think of something like this for a line up?

Progressive Farmer's: 250-50', 275-50', 305-50'

Progressive Deadlift: Apollon's axle, Farmer's implements, olympic bar, Silver Dollar Deadlift

Max Log

Heavy Steel Carry (350lbs or so from a platform or ground)

Medley (5 loaded...

2010 Saskatoon Ex - 4th Annual

Well, I've been doing some thinking and actually was able to talk to a few people that saw the show last year. Its getting bigger and bigger every year and we're running into a hard time finding guys willing to step upto the plate and compete and commit to a show in SK and in part, Western Canada in general.

So...any thoughts on this year, its open Canada wide? 16 guys, all 5 events head to head. Hotel, meal and prize money available, flights on your own expense.

Saskatchewan PL Provincials

The Saskatchewan Powerlifting Provincials were held on October 25 in Esterhazy.
It was a well organized meet with over 20 lifters competing.
Here is a brief rundown of my day.
Weighed in at a slim 136.6 kg ( 301 lbs )

Squat - 285, 295, 302.5
Each squat got a little easier. This is the lift I feel I really need to work on and improve.

Bench - 215, 227.5, 230(miss)
Nothing spectacular.

DL - 285, 305, 315
Used a DL suit for the first...

Idea for 2010 105kg Nationals

Hey all,
Since there is no 2009 105kg nationals, I was brainstorming recently and thought of this idea. I'd like to host it however I'd like to compete aswell and believe I might be able to do both however ensure the competition remains completely objective and does not favour any specific athlete. MASA Provincial Records

After the last meeting, we have decided to record and keep track of various event records with in our province. The idea is to come up with a set of events and rules where by records can be recorded. We will then have record breaking events at some contests. We realize that different equipment can change things, but that is ok, and better then not doing this at all. MASA Manitoba's Strongman Series 2010

We will be having a point series this year. Look to to about 5 contests. The first one we are working on will be in Winnipeg, hopefully Feb to Early March.

The plan is to have 5-6 contests. We will accumulate points, and then take your top 4 finishes (if we do a 5 contest series). This will allow the competitor to miss one contest (or, have a poor contest) and still be in the running. We realize it can be hard to do every contest.

I have been tossing around a few different ideas for this show for next year. I would like to have it late May to early June in the parking lot in front of the Great Canadian Wholesale again. I have had several new guys at the gym express interest that they would like to do a show but the weights for current shows are too much. I want to have a show that appeals to the rookies and the vets...

2. Give weight...

But am thinking we might have a few more comps next year, probably a points series.

Possible comps:

Altona Farm (not for points)
Altona
Gimli
Winkler (They are excited..working out the details)
Morden ?
Winnipeg ?

I have been told that both Winkler and Morden might have some interest in putting on comps during their festivals....
We are also looking at putting on an indoor comp in Winnipeg...

The End of the Road

I would like to announce that the Palliser Park Strongman show will be my last. It has been a fun 9 years and I have met some lifelong friends, but the time has come for me to move on to other things. I have pondered this for a long time now, and my heart just isn't in it like it used to be. I will miss Strongman, but the time has come.

I haven't heard anyone discuss anything about this comp. I believe late last year Grant (or someone else, can't remember) was saying someone may be interested in holding it the maritimes. I could be mistaken.
I'd love to hold it but I also want to enter and I know there'd be a conflict of interest.

I am going to be hosting the second annual Power at the Park Strongman Competition again this year on July 11th at 4:00pm. I will have 4 events again with a $50 payout/event win and an apperance fee paid out to all the athletes again. There was a good crowd turnout and it was a fun show last year! BBQ to follow at our Cabin, and I hope to have 5 or more entrants again. Events will be a 5 implement press challenge(not medley style), 3 object medley, Front squat for reps and a farmer/yoke...
