ya it is pretty easy, the wheels and the pipe only cost 55 bucks and is a completely different world from jsut shoulder pressing. I can power clean about
300lbs and i couldn't even get it off the ground without and over under grip it is friggen hard and that is what is great about it. One of the welds broke
because the wheels are cast iron and don't attach good to the steel pipe. Once I get it fixed back up I should bring it over to the compund Al so you can
take it to town.

This might be a bit of a longshot but I was wondering if anybody had any idea what weights for things like squat, deadlift, overhead pressing, yoke,
farmers, and stones that I would need to be able to do to be considered for 105 nationals.

Anyone can go to the Cdn Nationals. There are not that many 105s that we have to qualify people at this point.
You can see the results from past years here on the site. That will give you some idea of what the guys are doing. |

Push press
120x4 220x2 270x1 290x1 295x1 pr 300x1 pr really happy, I was expecting to hit this in december. new goal is 320lbs Deadlift 220x2 270x1 320x1 360x1 380x1 410x1 felt good, no tightness in my lower back and didn't stick anywhere during the pull, 40 more pounds and i will be back to when I hurt myself 6 months ago. bench press 225x20 did to untighten my chest. |

Nice work..how on earth did you put 50 lbs on your push press in two weeks?

Technique. I started with my feet really wide and when I narrowed them in that helped, then i narrowed my grip in because my triceps are alot stronger then my shoulders, and then having the weight on my chest instead of out in front resting only on my hands. this sounded dumb to me but it seems the transfer of power from legs is greater to excelerate the bar up. I watched a video of old Soviet Olympic Lifters and how different their technique was ( as in mine was terrible). I think in the next couple days i am going to tape some of my other lifts like deadlift and bench to see the flaws in my techniqe. Thanks Chris |

It's a joke Chris. You're right arm didn't lock out but a good press nonetheless!

Monday Nov 10
So it was brought to my attention this weekend that my bench press is stuck at around 410lbs because my body has gotten use to the very heavy singles workout i have been using, So I have started a much higher volume program that uses boards. ( gotta thank al for showing me , probably would use my heavy singles for a couple more months untill i got really frustrated, Thanks) Bench press warm up 120x8 170x8 220x5 2board 270x5 280x5 290x5 300x5 310x5 320x5 330x5 340x5 3board 350x5 360x5 370x4 380x2 4board 390x1 400x1 Chris |

So I have been very busy, I am now back at university so I can start training really hard again a few training updates since I posted last
Bench press 415 x1 3board 455x1 squat 455 x1 ( i am using a narrow olympic style squat, I can squat more with a wide powerlifter style squat but i don't think it is very applicable) pushpress 310x1 clean and press 280x1 I have been putting alot of work into strengthen my bi's and tri's my lack of lockout on my presses and not being able to crack the 320 stone was a nasty surprise. seated DB bicep curls 70 4x6 skull crusher 135 4x6 My back started hurting again so I went to a specialist and they belive that last year when i first injured myself i herniated a disk and it has now partially or completely disolved, so the physio and I have been trying to build and strengthen the erector muscles in my back. Right now I can deadlift 425lb a far cry from the 575lbs i was but there a light at the end of the tunnel now. One weekend i was home I worked out with Al and managed 275 lb on the purple log, i think i have a little more in me. Now that my training has become more regualr I will start posting again. Chris |
