I am trying to keep up with Big Al so i still got a long way to go. The major problem is my max deadlift is 405lb putting me at a major dis advantage in any
deadlift based event, super yoke, stones and power stairs. I have alot of work to do. Thank you very much though, I should ask though is novice show based on
strength or number of compititions competed in?
Thanks again Chris |

Dont worry about the deadlift all that much, well its really important to have. My deadlift was in the low 4's for most of the competition season and didnt
really start to go up until close to the end. But for events like yoke, if you are a naturally big guy like i am, it doesnt take much to have a good yoke. Id
try to give advice for stones and power stairs but quite frankly i suck at them so ill stop there lol.

I am not sure if they have any real criteria in Dubr as far as who can do the novice.
Also..its very fast, so raw strength might not be the most important thing in a lighter comp like that. Your putting up some pretty good numbers though. |

Okay cool. I haven't had any body really tell me how high the box should be. I will drop it down next time. the thing i use as a box is a little different
and can be adjusted by 2 inch depths. I will drop it down to 18 and 16 and see how it goes. Thanks Nathan.

You can squat to whatever depth you like. If you want to be IPF legal the top of your thigh at the hip has to be lower than the top of your knee. Someone
correct me if I am wrong but I think that is the judging depth. Then you know you are deep enough.

Cool. I will probably never be a power lifter but if squating the extra 4 or so inches deeper helps then i would be crazy not to.
Thanks again nathan i didn't really know how deep i should have been. Chris |

Nate is right, that's uber high.
I'm 5'11" and have to squat to a 12-13" box to be considered legally parallel.

High far apart are your guys feet. Cuz i have been squating slightly narrower then shoulder width so it transfers over to shotput better but am i doing it
wrong? should i have a really wide stance like a powerlifter?

I did not even notice the box height. 20 is pretty high. I just measured mine and its 12" or 14" if i adjust it up and i am 5ft 10in tall.
Oh yeah, i can squat just about as much as Eric's little sister. |
