I don't recall anyone else having any input. Correct Nathan and if you recall there was some grumbling because of it(Even though there hadn't been any the year before). That's why I came up with the events for 105 CSM the way Jamie decribed. And in the future if Jamie and/or I promote any kind of championship this is the way we are going to pick the events. Its just a suggestion BEFORE hand, an idea that perhaps we could adopt in the West. Brent can choose to use this idea or he can pick whatever he wants as events and you won't hear any complaining from Vancouver Island I gaurantee it!

Just in my own limited experience being involved in promoting it is impossible to keep everyone happy. Even in the May show that was done last year I was getting really annoyed with most everyone having something to BI$$$ about regarding certain things about each event. Being a promoter is A LOT of work and really a thankless job. I think that a lot of the guys that compete that have not been involved in putting on a show really don't know how much work it is to put on a show.....getting sponsors is enough to make you pull your hair out....thankfully I have a luscious mane. Ha. I am just rambling now. Basically I think that Brent has put on enough shows that he can pick some great events that will decide the BEST 3 to represent the West at CSM. Make it a 2 day show if we really want to match CSM. ... And given the fact that Brent has consulted Hugo and Grant will give even more credit to the show!! Hope it works out for you Brent!! Hopefully we can get a tentative event list soon!!! "Unless you try something beyond what you already mastered you will never grow."

It did cross my mind. How would people feel about that? Allows us to cover more events, and is more like CSM as far as wearing you down.

You wanna go to Canadians, don't forget you have to lift as heavy as the guys from the east to be competitive. it should definitely be a well rounded competition. Which would include a squat and deadlift event. Best of luck in the endevour, and hope to see it in Manitoba Again.

Unless Hugo demands (as if) that we have to have this event. Derek, if your around that weekend (and not entering) we could definitly use your help for moving stuff/timing etc.

Its been used for enough years in a row that it won't be at CSM this year. The Truck DL however is alsmost 100% guaranteed to be there. I'm fine with a 2 day event if that is what you want to run Brent. I think that a 2day 8 event show is more likely to place everybody where they should be. With 8 events you are likely to see both your stronger and weaker events not just one or the other.

I did not use the proposed system for event selection but i was very conscience of perceived favourtism.. I did get imput from hugo for the events for the show.. I also tried and stressed that the equipment used was mostly commercially available... brute strength log, brute strength FW's and Pit bull Car DL...Slater Stones..etc I also gave out the events pretty close to as they were in July as early as November 28th 2007 on this forum and had then finalized exactly as they were as early as Feb 12th 2008 .. that is 6 months of notice... I would have liked to have used the proposed system but never thoguht of it until after the show.. cheers J

Even Though, I would have to make it clear I cannot, really lockout with the left arm if there was an overhead lift. I have OH with 275 lately but, just hold it short of complete lockout. So maybe I will volunteer to move stuff around!

Should we go with 5 at 56" or the 72-66-------etc towers that get shorter? Just looking for opinions here, will see what everyone thinks and make my own call. Hugo has not told me that they will or will not have the 72" ones.

I think they have had the towers every year for the last 4 or 5 years if I'm not mistaken.....I would think the descending ones would be most appropriate to prep guys for CSM. I agree with Jamie about having them more secure. Have you thought up an event list yet? "Unless you try something beyond what you already mastered you will never grow."

So..there was no test time. None the less i was very happy with it and the potential it has. Eric will be changing the drum so it goes around 90'. We wills change the hooks that were bending to something more beefy. Then, we will have (i think) the finish line at 80'. at 85' on we will have a gradual ramp. My thoughts are that if anyone is actually able to hit 80' at a run (haha) they will have room to keep going, slow down etc. The ramp is to force them to drop. Honestly, the ramp probably is not needed....but the way we were running into that finish line board last year was not optimal. Also, we will probably consider either not using tape on the handles, or, possibly, have enough tape, helpers, and knives to allow anyone a re-tape before they go. Again, i want to test how fast we can do this, as it might take too long. We will use this new setup at the April comp to work out any kinks. We will use a fork lift again this year, and should have alot of helpers, as the festival will not be tapping all the local resources.
