Palliser Park Strongman July 11th, Updated Event List and Good Prize Money! |
Lead | |
|
I am going to be hosting the second annual Power at the Park Strongman Competition again this year on July 11th at 4:00pm. I will have 4 events again with a
$50 payout/event win and an apperance fee paid out to all the athletes again. There was a good crowd turnout and it was a fun show last year! BBQ to follow
at our Cabin, and I hope to have 5 or more entrants again. Events will be a 5 implement press challenge(not medley style), 3 object medley, Front squat for
reps and a farmer/yoke event, more details to follow.
Thanks Darren

It looks like I only have three guys including myself for this show. I must say that I am dissapointed, but I will still do the show even with the low numbers.
I will still take entrants, but the payout will probably be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The date is saturday July 11th at 4:pm.

the sport is in transition again.. I had to cancel a show out here that had 20 competitors in 2006 and 21 in 2007 , only 7 in 2008 as it was the westerns and this year i only had 1 person express interest.... promoting is a tough gig.. J |

A healthy competitor would be crazy not to come out to this.....

Note for the Atlas Stones: I am trying out a new secter formula to coat my atlas stones with a sand grit, so we shouldn't need tacky. I will let you know
how it works in about an hour!

What is your drink of choice Darren? I'm bringing a bottle for you to get all silly after the show! |

That sounds like a plan! Malibu Coconut Rum will do...
And, I sealed up the stone and put some grit on it, but it isn't as rough as I thought it would be. Tacky wouldn't hurt... |

A great contest. Lots of fun.
FINAL PLACINGS 1. Moe 2. Darren 3. Travis 4. Chris 5. Brian Events 1. Front Squat - Moe dominated here doing 8 reps with the 365. Darren did 3, Travis 2 and Chris 1. 2. Press Challenge - We did each implement separately so it was not like a Medley. The barrel was a beast and no one could press it although Moe came very close. Chris actually fell backwards when he had the barrel lapped and it landed on top of him ( he was alright ). 3. Medley - 250 FW for 50 ft then 800 Yoke for 30 - Travis finished in 1:32 sec. Darren did 33 sec. Moe breezed through in 19 sec. 4. Stone loading - Onto a 56" platform. Two Atlas stones and two field stones. It was warm outside and tacky got very runny. Chris and Travis got 3 stones but vcould not get 4th. Darren loaded all 4 and so did Moe. Brian - was a little rusty but good to see him back competing. Chris - His back is not 100% and that hurt him in a few events. A good showing. Travis - gave his usual 110%. Still owes me $5 for not loading that last stone. Moe - Very solid. A light training session for him. Darren - Cleaver put on a great show. Very solid in everything. IF this was his last show then he went out on a high note. Great job. |
