The only other one I know is Kevin Green in Edmonton, but he basically sticks to Edmonton and doesn't leave the area or really try to promote the couple of
shows he does a year. Usually small community hall type stuff with local guys. Definitely not a "Westerns" size show - not to say he couldn't do
it.

I originally had interest some time ago to organize a western's comp but have since changed my mind due to many athletes commanding (actually expecting) certain prize money be provided. Unfortunately I cannot assure that all monies will be to the liking or satisfaction of a few people so as a result I'm going to remain out of organizing larger Western-type events and stick with smaller, provincial type competitions. Regardless, I hope the Western ranking athletes do find a good promoter that will do the event justice. Unfortunately I haven't be able to train much, let alone organize a strongman competition this year due to work and my personal life however next year
will be much more positive. Good luck to all for the remainder of the year and their off-season.
Tough times don't last....tough people do!!!!

thanks for getting the topic and debate started early.. AB or SK should host 2010 .. i definately have got a sense that our sport is in a state of change here in the west.. it seems like we have phases or generations.. there are guys that have been around the sport for a long time as competitors promoters etc - Brent, Dennis, Robin W, myself, Darren Cleve, John C ( and i have forgot a few) 1998 or so from the competitive side dolan, mc reynolds, Randy D and Brosts were the first - next wave 2004 or so was Al B, Provick, Scott C, Chris C and MATT were the second and now i think we are going to turn it over again and John Moricke, Mike M and Paul R here in BC, Kevin Green in AB, Eric in MB are going to be the next group of guys to keep the sport alive and growing in the West.. good luck to whoever steps up to take on the show..I can offer my support and advice.. cheers J |
