I am still in the planning stages but here is what I know for sure. Moose Jaw Hometown Fair Strongman Contest June 25 & 26 8 events - 4 events each day Decent Prize money. We would like to get 16 competitors. I have had a few people tell me they are interested already. I need to know how much interest there is so if you would be interested in competing just send me an email at alanblock17@hotmail.com I will have more details about events and prize money very shortly. Posts: 519 (04/14/11 12:13:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Here is what I am thinking for events: 1) Harness Pull 2) Log for reps - 220 or 250 - 75 sec 3) Frame Carry - Around 600 lbs - distance TBD 4) Tire Flip - Hopefully 800 lb Tire - distance TBD 5) Arm over Arm 6) Car DL 7) Yoke - Thinking 730 for 40 ft set down 90 lbs added 820 for 40 ft back Atlas Stone Over Bar - 300 or 330 stone - likely around 50 inch bar. Things could change but this is what I would like.

When I receive your entry I will post your name as officially entered. I am charging a $50 performance bond to insure that guys who say they are going to compete actually show up. As long as you show up you will receive at least that much in prize money. So far 5 guys have expressed interest. No interest fom any athletes in Manitoba yet.

Iron brothers has always been qaulity competition. Hence, I wasn't always the fastest or the storngest but these guys always had me pushing a little further. I have nothing against my manitoba brethren. I've been here and there and only been to westerns in sask back in 2003. and used to say i would come out and never show. now things are a little better and i can make some of these competitions.

I would love to be there to compete, but i have not been in the gym since March, I dont like to make excuses but i since then i have had surgery on my foot, had a accident at work that really messed up my back, Lost my cousin in a tragic ATV accident, and had yet another accident at work that has really put a hamper on my ability to lift properly. Al, i hope you can get a good bunch of guys to compete cause like i said you really do put on a great quality contest!! Here is to also hoping that some more MB blood can make it out to compete!! I compete this weekend and am then out of the country for a week and out of the province the week after, Returning on June 11. At an 8ish hour drive, I will see about convincing some fellow Edmontonians to make the trip.

Personally I remember my first Canadians sitting in the tent staring at Girard, Lyndon, Paulin, Fillou, Bourgeois and Dolan and thinking what the heck am I doing here. I got my ass kicked but also learned more that weekend than a year's worth of training would have provided. It's about getting out there and giving everything you have. Nobody can ever question or doubt you if you do that

A similar thing happened to me: with only a few months experience I entered '02 Sask Strongest Man, with zero intention of entering Westerns two weeks later. My training did not indicate I was ready for that of level show. However, a bunch of guys pulled out of Westerns the week before leaving the promoter scrambling to get enough athletes for this TSN-taped broadcast. I was browbeat (shamed) by the promoter to enter. When the dust settled, I qualified for Nationals and went on to place 8th there...and beat OSM and ACSM.... when 6 weeks previous I "wasnt ready". This was a combination of skill I didn't know I had and an equal measure of luck, (it was more luck that skill who am I kidding) but the sun shines on every Mules ass once in awhile..... I never did thank the promoter for that.... You never know what you're made of until you step in the fire... like my infantry buddy says...all the training in the world doesnt equal five minutes of combat. I'm off my soapbox now. Few minor changes: Events 1) Harness Pull - Could change if we are not able to get a truck & trailer 2) Log Clean & Press for Reps - 220 or 250 3) Frame Carry - 600 lbs 4) Tire Flip - 750 lb Tire 5) Press Medley - 180 Field Stone, 180 Keg, 240 keg, 260 Axle, 290 Log - Any order you want 6) Car DL 7) Yoke - 730 for 40 ft drop turn around with 820 for forty feet back Atlas Stone over Bar - 300 or 330 stone over 50" Bar Arm over Arm is out and Press Medley In. Will find out about truck pull shortly. There are lots of hotels in Moose Jaw and most of them are close to the exhibition grounds ( within 5 minutes ) and close to a lot of MJ's restaurants. Here are some with the phone #s and prices they told me ( could change and I have no guaranteed prices at any hotel ) Comfort Inn - 692-2100 - $120 room, $135 suite , Breakfast included Days Inn - 691-5777 - $140 - Breakfast Super 8 - 692-8888 - $103.50 - Breakfast Parke Lodge Motor Inn - $98 There is also a place in town Prairie Oasis that rents trailers.
